A wealthy socialite and her friends were among the 11 people killed on Sunday when a private plane bringing them home from a bachelorette party crashed into an Iranian mountainside.

It was gathered that the flight which was heading to Instanbul in Turkey began to fail after the plane’s engine caught and crashed into the mountains of Iran.

All 11 on board died, according to Red Crescent, an Iran agency.

Eight aboard the flight were passengers and three were crew members.

The country’s Civil Aviation Organization spokesman, Reza Jafarizadeh, said the private jet crashed near Shahr-e Kord city, some 230 miles south of the capital Tehran.

Local who reached the crash site in the Zagros Mountains reportedly found only badly burned bodies and no survivors.

The plane was identified as a Bombardier CL604, tail number TC-TRB by Turkey’s Dogan News Agency.
